Here is a short recap on Lizzie's first month-
May 24, 2011, the birth of our little girl- Tim and I went to the hospital and waited for 3 hours before the c-section began. They took me back to the room and prepped me for surgery. Tim was almost late for the surgery because the preparations were quicker than expected. We had to page a nurse to allow him to get to the room. On his way down the hall way, nurses and the anesthesiologist were gesturing him to come into the room quickly. Seconds after he sat down next to me with a nervous look on his face, Lizzie came into the world. She immediately began crying and was gurgling until they suctioned her. Finally we found out her sex when the doctor happily announced that her boy streak had been broken. She was tired for circumcisions. They brought her over and we both stared at her in disbelief, finally the moment had come. They cleaned her and took her vitals. Her Apgars were 8 and 9! Then they told Tim to come take her and hold her. He was nervous since he'd never held a newborn before but very happy to take her. She was crying the entire time but quit for about a second after she heard my voice. Quickly she began again and didn't stop for 15-20 minutes when she was finally able to eat. After a few days in the hospital, in the nicest hospital room I've ever seen, we went home.
Family visits- We've had lots of visitors in the past month. It has been so nice for everyone to meet Lizzie at this age and of course for all of the help.
Development- Lizzie is growing well but has a few growing pains, a.k.a. gas. We think she'll outgrow it though. She is lifting her head well and moving around a lot. Also she is getting very good at tuning into the world- eye contact, auditory recognition, smell recognition. Mom and Dad are proud of her everyday.
